Entertainment

Discovery Sun has got a great selection of entertainment onboard. We have increased our entertainment department and added a steel pan player that plays on the open deck and a Latin musician that plays in our Tropical lounge. We now have a wide selection of music playing to and from Grand Bahama that everyone can enjoy. Since the weather is so beautiful now and the evenings are warm, we also have our disco outside on deck, so you can dance the night away under the stars.

Exciting Day

It is so great to be sailing to Grand Bahama again. There was a really nice article in the local newspaper yesterday on Grand Bahama announcing that Discovery Sun is back. It means a lot to the Bahamians to have Discovery Sun travel to Grand Bahama every day, not only to bring tourists to the Island, but also for them to travel to the United States. We are in port on Wednesday’s and tomorrow we have a big day. There will be a film shoot for a Bud Light commercial which will involve most of the crew onboard. It is very exciting and even though it is going to be a very long day, we are all looking forward to it.

Sailing Again

We’re back, after almost one month Discovery Sun is sailing again. We are all really happy to be sailing again and look forward to some great days on Grand Bahama. There have been a lot of adverts on local Bahamian radio stations announcing our return. The Bahamians, as well as the tourists are very pleased to have us back again. We have undergone a lot of renovations onboard in the public areas, including the restrooms. The Discovery Sun crew worked very hard during the down time and the ship looks great for it.

This is a personal weblog. I have worked in the cruise industry since joining Carnival Cruise Line in 1990 as a member of the cruise staff team. I joined the Discovery Cruise Line family in 1996, sailing daily to Grand Bahama Island as Shore Excursion Manager. I was promoted to the position of Cruise Director in 1999 and continued to sail daily to Grand Bahama Island until 2003, when I began working in the Miami office as Entertainment & Communications Manager. I still continue to sail to Grand Bahama at least one day per week. The purpose of this blog is to share tips and information about Grand Bahama in the I hope that it will be useful in helping visitors make the best of their travel plans from both my own and other bloggers' experiences.
