Island Seas Resort

I love the Island Seas. This time-share resort does also offer accommodations for non-members and I think it is a great place to stay if you are spending a week or more on Grand Bahama. Island Seas is very centrally located so you can get around the island quite easily. There is a restaurant on property offering buffet style meals, which are quite good. If you want a change of scenery for dinner Port Lucaya isn’t very far away where you will find lots of great restaurants. Of course your room will have a full kitchen, so you could always cook for yourself. You can expect to pay a little bit more when you fill up your shopping cart at the grocery store. With the exception of some local poultry and produce, most goods are shipped in from the United States, and the added cost of shipping and import duties (around 35% for household items) adds to the price you pay. Some of this additional expense is offset by the fact that you are not paying a sales tax at the checkout counter, as you would in the United States. The amenities at the Island Seas are fantastic; I have listed below some of the things included:

  • Hair Dryer
  • Clothes Iron
  • Alarm Clock
  • Microwave
  • Internet Access
  • Gym
  • Free Washer and Dryer Access
  • DVD Player and Movie Rental
  • Concierge Desk
  • Cable Television
  • Room Safe
  • Ironing Board
  • Bedroom and Common Room Televisions
  • Full Kitchen
  • Cooking Utensils
  • Playground
  • Shuffle Board
  • Horseshoes
  • Volley Ball
They also offer activities every day such as Karaoke, bingo and beach games so there is plenty to do at the resort. The beach at the Island Seas is truly beautiful, be sure to take a walk to the other end of the beach where you are sure to find your own little piece of paradise with no one around. I do like this resort, especially the beach, but it is a little bit pricey compared to others.

I have worked in the cruise industry since joining Carnival Cruise Line in 1990 as a member of the cruise staff team. I joined the Discovery Cruise Line family in 1996, sailing daily to Grand Bahama Island as Shore Excursion Manager. I was promoted to the position of Cruise Director in 1999 and continued to sail daily to Grand Bahama Island until 2003, when I began working in the Miami office as Entertainment & Communications Manager. I still continue to sail to Grand Bahama at least one day per week. The purpose of this blog is to share tips and information about Grand Bahama in the I hope that it will be useful in helping visitors make the best of their travel plans from both my own and other bloggers' experiences.
