Bike Tour

The Bike Tour is operated by Kayak Nature Tours and has some of the islands most experienced and insightful guides. You cycle along Grand Bahamas shoreline while your knowledgeable guide feeds you with Grand Bahamas unique history. Throughout the tour you will have the chance to see the islands rich architectural styles and traditions, along with many of the fascinating elements of the islands ecosystem, such as: the costal rock formations, the mangroves and the beautiful tropical flora and fauna. There is also stop at Sanctuary Bay, home to approximately 16 Atlantic Bottle Nose Dolphins. Shopping is also part of this tour, you will visit Port Lucaya where you will find many duty-free boutiques, amazing craft stores and local products like the Bahamian straw crafts, which are woven in styles passed on through generations of local residents. Of course no tour of the island is complete without a stop at one of the islands pristine beaches, so you will have time to relax and have a dip in the warm Caribbean waters before heading back to your hotel. If you like being active you will love this tour. They do only take small groups each day, so I recommend you make reservations early. Tour reservations can be made onboard Discovery Sun at the tour desk.

About the author

This is a personal weblog. The views and opinions expressed here represent my own (and those of some of the commentators that I have included) and not those of Discovery Cruise Line or Discovery Management. I have worked in the cruise industry since joining Carnival Cruise Line in 1990 as a member of the cruise staff team. I joined the Discovery Cruise Line family in 1996, sailing daily to Grand Bahama Island as Shore Excursion Manager. I was promoted to the position of Cruise Director in 1999 and continued to sail daily to Grand Bahama Island until 2003, when I began working in the Miami office as Entertainment & Communications Manager. I still continue to sail to Grand Bahama at least one day per week. The purpose of this blog is to share tips and information about Grand Bahama in the I hope that it will be useful in helping visitors make the best of their travel plans from both my own and other bloggers' experiences.
