One Day Cruise Snorkel Trip

by Admin 7/31/2009 10:22:00 PM

Discovery Cruise Line is now offering a snorkel trip for passengers taking a one-day cruise to Grand Bahama. The warm waters of the Bahamas make snorkeling appealing year around. The unique reefs of the Bahamas break ocean waves and provide calm waters and a habitat where fish thrive. The waters of the Bahamas are some of the clearest in the World. Visibility on a clear day is up to 200 ft. Shallow waters- like those found at Rainbow Reef (off Grand Bahama) are 2 - 14 feet deep- allowing visitors to get a close look at the coral reef and an abundance of small colorful fish. It is an adventure for beginners, immediate & advance snorkelers alike. The Fantasia Sea Safari Snorkel, also available to passengers on 2 and 3 night cruises, leaves from the Port Lucaya dock at 1:30pm and returns at 3:30pm. While traveling to the reef you will receive instructions by one of the experienced guides. The staff onboard is very friendly and ready to please you. The Fantasia is specially designed to allow all ages to get into the water easily. Floatation gear is provided so that exertion is minimum. You simply lie on the water and enjoy the view. Guides are in water to assist you while you snorkel. After snorkeling you can ride the slide or test your strength and skill on our 30 ft. rock-climbing wall.

About the author

This is a personal weblog. The views and opinions expressed here represent my own (and those of some of the commentators that I have included) and not those of Discovery Cruise Line or Discovery Management. I have worked in the cruise industry since joining Carnival Cruise Line in 1990 as a member of the cruise staff team. I joined the Discovery Cruise Line family in 1996, sailing daily to Grand Bahama Island as Shore Excursion Manager. I was promoted to the position of Cruise Director in 1999 and continued to sail daily to Grand Bahama Island until 2003, when I began working in the Miami office as Entertainment & Communications Manager. I still continue to sail to Grand Bahama at least one day per week. The purpose of this blog is to share tips and information about Grand Bahama in the I hope that it will be useful in helping visitors make the best of their travel plans from both my own and other bloggers' experiences.
